Department Info

Terumo is a manufacturer of medical devices . In Haasrode (Leuven), Terumo produces approximately 800 million injection needles, injection solutions, catheters and necessary accessories per year.

Our strong performance was recently rewarded once again with the arrival of a large pharmaceutical company for which we will produce specifically developed products. To this end, we will create additional production capacity, with a new machine park that combines automation with extensive data capture.

To help ensure the start-up of this new production unit on the right track, we are looking to expand our engineering team.

Job Summary

Department

Engineering is part of the Operations & Manufacturing department. More specifically, you will end up in the Product & Process Design Development department. Here we work in Cross Functional Teams . Through end -to- end engineering we stimulate continuous innovation and optimization of existing and new products and (production) processes.

 

Function

The Industrial engineer designs the new production cell based on customer demand, with a focus on optimizing flow and capacity and minimizing waste.

Job Responsibilities

You create the production process taking into account optimal use of people, materials and machines in order to achieve or increase production.

  • You define the takt times, capacity scenarios and Operational Excellence targets
  • You define the (material) flow and logistics setup
  • You design the production cell, the layout and the ergonomics of the workstation, taking into account logistics flows and required manpower (man/machine ratios )
  • You prepare process work sheets (flow, tasks, methodologies )
  • You calculate the costs (direct and indirect labor)
  • You do method - and time studies
  • You design the functional design (flow diagrams) and the Human Machine Interface
     

Profile Description

  • You have a Master's degree in industrial sciences, with a focus on electromechanics
  • (A first) experience in a production environment is necessary to quickly gain a good understanding of our processes.
  • You have gained this experience in a professional, high-tech environment, which gives you knowledge of setting up lean manufacturing and a good understanding of production costs, methods, ergonomics , ...
  • Good knowledge of - digitizing - information flows and the IT systems surrounding them (SAP, MES)
  • You have good communication skills, in English and Dutch, given the many contacts with different parties in the projects you handle.
