Department Info

The production plant of Terumo Europe in Belgium produces the most innovative and high-quality medical products to treat people and save people’s lives daily and in the most efficient manner. Our maintenance department, as part of the production plant, provides the needed support by maintaining the machinery and facility of the plant, as well as supporting and/or initiating continuous improvement of our production processes.

Job Summary

As a Maintenance Engineer in our manufacturing department, you’ll be responsible for continuously maintaining and enhancing both the infrastructure and its related software. You’ll be aiming to guarantee the continuity of the production process, by contributing to the reliability of the automatization of the infrastructure. As a member of the Maintenance Team, you’ll be reporting directly to your Maintenance Team leader.

Job Responsibilities

As our Maintenance engineer, you’ll be responsible for several aspects.


Firstly, you’ll have to facilitate the set-up as well as the follow-up of automation standards. Secondly the Maintenance engineer is responsible for the improvement, specification, development, testing, documentation and commissioning of the software applications. The execution or implementation of projects is also included within the responsibilities of the job. In addition, you’ll also need to assess whether the standards are upheld by the projects or not. Lastly, you’ll oversee the management of backups and securing knowledge within the knowledge matrix.


All the responsibilities need to be fulfilled based on the given instructions and procedures. Therefore, the job description is not restrictive, concerning your responsibilities and tasks. While performing your tasks, you’ll have to abide by the GMP and safety rules.


Related to the different topics in which you’ll be involved, certain tasks will have to be performed.

  • Drafting, implementing and documenting automation standards
  • Follow up and keep the knowledge on track of the automation employees through the knowledge matrix
  • Analyzing and solving of problems
  • Support colleagues in the search of solutions to problems
  • Approach suppliers for information, orders or granting a work assignment
  • Provide advice on service contracts and quotations (quality, price and service)
  • Consult with the Maintenance Team leader and CFT Team leaders, concerning improvement initiatives
  • Participate in the project meetings to monitor and adjust (if needed) the design and implementation to ensure that the standard won’t be exceeded
  • Drafting and adjusting (if needed) of the Design Requirements
  • Assessment and supplementation of User Requirements Specifications and Functional specifications, concerning the functional, architectural and infrastructure specifications

Profile Description

You have obtained a Bachelor’s degree in automatization. A similar degree or level by experience will also be accepted. Furthermore, you have minimally 5 years of experience within this certain area of expertise or within a similar role.

Both a substantial amount of technical insight in machines and installations, and specific technical skills, are essential.

You need to have strong communication skills (Dutch and English), analytical skills and good judgement.

As an employee you are customer oriented, an individual that has attention to detail, flexible, results-oriented, enterprising, sincere, an organizer and a team player.

You possess a broad knowledge of IT, MS office and the relevant SAP-functionalities. Additionally, you need to have the know-how and experience, concerning the different phases in the application development and management (analyze, design, construction, testing, implementation, transfer, documentation and support)
