This position is within the new Therapeutic Interventional Oncology (TIO) Organisation of Terumo.  It is entirely dedicated to offer innovative therapeutic solution to cancer patients.  This organisation is comprised of of Research & Development, Medical Affairs, Software & Imaging Solutions, and Operations (incl. Job Summary

The Product Development Lead (PDL) plays a key role in the definition, development and introduction of new medical devices in the field of Therapeutic Interventional Oncology. This position is a Hybrid role, working with internal stakeholders in our office in Deventer and meeting Key Opinion Leaders, mainly in the Netherlands (focus) and beyond. 

Job Responsibilities

As Product Development Lead (PDL), you investigate the need for new products that can be valuable add-ons to our portfolio, or look for new ways to utilize the potential of our current products. 
You ensure the needs from users, but also from business, marketing, regulatory affairs, clinical, R&D are properly captured into user requirements that are the input to the design and development process for new medical devices. During the design and development process, you represent the Voice of the Customer to ensure product requirements stay aligned with the needs from the field.
Key in this role is having an excellent in-depth understanding of the intended user, use environment and use cases of the to-be-developed medical device. Therefore, the PDL frequently interacts with future users and Key Opinion Leaders by doing hospital visits, or by participating to international congresses. 
During short design iteration cycles, the PDL validates the design with internal and external stakeholders and provides feedback to the development team. In addition, you may execute usability engineering and risk assessment activities in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Profile Description

You have an advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in medical science (e.g. biomedical-engineering) or a related field. A combination of medical and business education is a strong asset. 
You can look back at a first work experience in the healthcare or medical devices industry, clinical and/or marketing in a B2B environment. Relevant product design research experience is an equally interesting background. Experience in a high-tech and/or product development domain is a plus.
In addition, you have a solid understanding of medical devices and their clinical practice. Experience in the field of (interventional) oncology is a plus.
Furthermore, you are a team player, communicate well and can coordinate a cross functional project. You possess strong analytical skills and can work in an independent way. 
You feel comfortable interaction with clients and internal stakeholders, show good listening and presentation skills, both in Dutch and English.  
You are flexible to travel 10% to 25% of your time within Europe, mainly within The Netherlands. You are able to be in our Deventer office twice per week minimum.
