The procurement team in the Terumo EMEA HQ in Belgium supports the full EMEA organisation with Procurement projects regarding Direct and Indirect goods & services, raw materials and technical purchasing.

Summary of the job
The Senior Buyer will be responsible for all 3rd party technical spend, the related suppliers and will deliver the necessary support to the technical departments involved.

Job Responsibility

Manage and be responsible for suppliers and purchasing activities related to the technical spend categories, being; technical/spare parts, tools, machines (CAPEX), needs related to technical services and MRO.

Become the main point of contact for the organisation and the suppliers and have full ownership and control over the S2P process.

Co-develop and implement the sourcing strategies and sourcing plans for the spend categories concerned

Structure the area of technical purchasing as such that a sourcing process is in place for the different spend categories, taking into account their importance and complexity, i.e. catalogue buying, automatic reordering, RFI/RFP workflows, etc.

Be responsible and accountable for the RFI / RFP process, commercial and contract negotiations with suppliers, belonging to the dedicated categories

Maintain close and inter-active contact both with your suppliers as well as your internal stakeholders, to guarantee that the most suitable and competitive deal is closed.

Install SLA’s and KPI based agreements where relevant.

Run and/or support cost saving and improvement projects in close cooperation with your internal stakeholders, taking into account their short and long term needs.

Install preferred supplier lists where applicable.

Support the budget process for your dedicated spend categories.

Profile Description

Holding a bachelor or university degree in economics, engineering or business administration, with a strong interest in the medical and pharmaceutical industry

Having at least 10+ years of experience in a purchasing function as a (senior) buyer, in an international and complex production related environment

Solid and professional experience in re-organizing sourcing processes (RFI until PO) related to spare-parts, critical machine parts, MRO, etc.

Ability to coach support functions to adopt new ways of working, achieving higher level targets, etc.

Strong analytical skills and strategic insight.  Strategic negotiations and contract management related to CAPEX projects.

Excellent negotiator, creative thinking and problem solving skills

Strong organizational, interpersonal and written communication skills, having demonstrated the ability to successfully lead projects in a multi stakeholder environment

Ability to convince others and to develop networks internally and externally

Fluent in Dutch and English, speaking and writing.

International oriented, willing to travel (10%)
