Job Summary

As Power BI Engineer, you help drive data-informed decision-making by transforming complex datasets into clean, scalable data models and intuitive dashboards in Power BI. Your role focuses on building the analytical foundation, ensuring that business users, analysts, and leaders have access to high-quality, self-service reporting tools.

Working within the Analytics & AI team, you collaborate with different internal stakeholders, with a primary focus on teams in Supply Chain and the European Distribution Center (EDC) in Genk. You will also support global analytics initiatives and help maintain a consistent, high-quality analytics environment across regions. In this role, we foresee a regular presence both at our Leuven site, to engage with your direct team members, and at the EDC in Genk, where in-person collaboration with your main stakeholders will help you better understand operational processes and design effective reporting solutions. Success in this role requires curiosity, a willingness to learn, strong communication skills, and the ability to turn complex requirements into clear, scalable Power BI solutions that support Terumo’s growing data-driven and AI-enabled ambitions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain high-quality Power BI datasets, data models, and dashboards, ensuring accuracy, scalability, user-friendliness, and alignment with performance and governance best practices.

  • Translate business requirements into clear technical specifications, working closely with stakeholders to design reporting solutions that effectively support operational and strategic decision-making.

  • Apply strong data modelling principles, including relationships, hierarchies, transformations, and calculated measures, to build reliable reporting structures for efficient, flexible analysis.

  • Support data integration and sourcing activities, connecting Power BI to databases, SAP systems, cloud solutions, and APIs, while ensuring secure, reliable, and compliant data flows.

  • Perform data validation, cleansing, and quality checks to ensure the integrity, consistency, and usability of data, collaborating with business and IT teams to address discrepancies.

  • Optimise report and model performance through efficient DAX queries, refined data structures, and best-practice design, improving responsiveness and user experience.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including data dictionaries, process flows, architecture overviews, and user guides, to support transparency, scalability, and knowledge-sharing.

  • Collaborate with global analytics teams to support enterprise-wide initiatives, contribute to standardised approaches, and align with emerging analytical practices.

  • Engage proactively with users and stakeholders, gathering feedback, supporting adoption, and refining solutions to maximise value, usability, and impact.

  • Ensure adherence to data governance and compliance requirements, applying security, privacy, and access-control standards to maintain trust and responsible data usage.

Profile Description

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Power BI, including data modelling, Power Query transformations, DAX measures, and building clear, user-friendly dashboards.

  • Ability to translate stakeholder needs into structured, scalable technical reporting solutions.

  • Basic familiarity with the Microsoft Power Platform (e.g., Power Apps, Power Automate) and SAP or similar ERP systems, with curiosity to deepen knowledge over time.

  • Solid understanding of data visualisation principles and BI best practices, ensuring that reporting outputs are both intuitive and impactful.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to work through complex information, ask insightful questions, and propose practical technical solutions.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, building trust with diverse stakeholders and adapting communication style to different audiences.

  • Fluent in Dutch and English, with the ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and confidently in both languages.

  • Adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity, remaining positive and solution-focused when priorities shift or information evolves.

  • Eager to learn and adopt new technologies, contributing to continuous improvement and the team’s digital evolution.

  • Organised and accountable, with the ability to manage tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain high-quality documentation.

  • Reflective, open to feedback, and committed to developing personal strengths while contributing to a supportive, innovative team culture.
