Department Info

Terumo is a manufacturer of medical devices. In Leuven, Terumo produces approximately 800 million injection needles, injection solutions, catheters and necessary accessories per year. On the one hand we develop and produce products for hospitals, on the other hand we produce specifically developed products according to the needs, questions and medicines of our pharmaceutical customers. To make this far-reaching personalization possible, investments were made in a flexible machine park with a high degree of automation. We were very proud to recently achieve the title of Factory of the Future, which testifies to progressive production technology and a people-oriented organization.

Job Summary

As a Process Engineer, you are part of a Cross Functional Team in production. You analyse the existing production processes with the aim of formulating, developing, and testing process improvements and solving current problems. You research and implement new process technologies/processes with the support of other departments. In addition, you also fulfil a coordinating role in the development and implementation of existing production processes. As Process Engineer, your ultimate goal is the implementation of quality and yield improved production processes.

Job Responsibilities

As a Process Engineer, you are responsible for the following: 

 

1. Optimisation of the production systems (operational excellence): 

  • Definition and prioritization of opportunities (including through analysis of existing processes to determine bottlenecks and production problems).
  • Determination of success criteria. 
  • Thorough analysis of the problem. 
  • Development of improvement proposals, implementation of some of these proposals. Feedback to the teams involved and coordination (e.g. engineering, quality or maintenance) of other proposals. 
  • Securing solutions so that the improvement is permanent. 


2. Active internal (preferably visual) communication about the change process. 

 

3. Implementing, managing and optimising (digital) systems that help to better visualise and analyse production. 

 

4. Key player of different project groups within "operations manufacturing" and cooperates in the implementation of the action plans. 

 

5. Maintaining the documentation system with regard to actions taken according to the "control of change" procedure. 
 

 

Profile Description

The  candidate we are looking for meets the following profile: 

 

  • You are in possession of a bachelor's degree in elekctromechanics, specialization electromechanics. 
  • You have affinity with PLC, robot, cobot, artificial intelligence or industrial engineering. 
  • You are a motivated, enthusiastic school leaver, or already have a first work experience (max. 5 years). 
  • You have strong communication, organisational, social and project management skills. 
  • You have a sharp analytical insight (problem solving oriented) and conceptual thinking. 
  • You get energy from working with team members. 
  • You communicate fluently in both Dutch and English.
