At Terumo Europe, our Purchasing & Procurement department plays a pivotal role in optimizing our supply chain and ensuring the smooth operation of procurement processes for both direct and indirect materials. As part of our Finance division, the team works closely with stakeholders across various departments to centralize and streamline purchasing activities, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficiency across the organization. Internship Project Summary

As a Purchasing & Procurement Intern at Terumo Europe, you will join a highly skilled and dynamic team that supports the entire procurement cycle. In this role, you will work on key purchasing projects, assist with sourcing strategies, and gain firsthand experience in managing supplier relationships. You will also contribute to the centralization of procurement activities and support the further development of our procurement processes.

 

This internship offers you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the purchasing and procurement field, while actively participating in important business decisions and projects.

Key Responsibilities

As a Purchasing & Procurement Intern, you will assist in various aspects of procurement and purchasing processes. Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Supporting the Centralization of Procurement Activities: Work closely with the team to centralize purchasing activities across multiple spend categories, including direct materials (e.g., EDC Genk) and indirect categories (e.g., travel, fleet, OPEX).
  • Sourcing Strategies and Supplier Negotiations: Assist in the development and implementation of sourcing strategies for specific spend categories, and participate in the RFI/RFP process and contract negotiations.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Maintain active communication with suppliers, ensuring competitive deals and strong relationships that support business goals.
  • Project Support: Contribute to cost-saving initiatives, process improvements, and procurement projects in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Performance Monitoring: Help establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to evaluate supplier performance.
  • Procurement Process Ownership: Gain exposure to the entire purchase-to-pay (P2P) process, assisting in managing procurement systems, data analysis, and reporting to ensure efficiency.
  • Preferred Supplier List & Budget Support: Contribute to the development of preferred supplier lists and support the procurement team in budget planning for dedicated spend categories.
