Department Info
Terumo is a manufacturer of medical devices. In Leuven (Haasrode), Terumo produces approximately 800 million injection needles, injection solutions and necessary accessories per year. We produce specifically developed products according to the needs, questions and medicines of our pharmaceutical customers.
Our strong performance was recently rewarded once again with the arrival of a large pharmaceutical company for which we will produce specifically developed products. To this end, we will create additional production capacity, with a new machine park that combines automation with extensive data capture.
In order to ensure both the existing production and the start-up of this new production unit in the right direction, we are looking to expand our engineering team.
Job Summary

Job Responsibilities
As a Software Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, testing and improving software applications for our advanced production and testing machines. You will work closely with colleagues from different disciplines to realize innovative solutions.
Your responsibilities include
- Creating, maintaining, auditing, and improving software programs based on the requirements (configuration files), and testing both hardware and software systems to detect and fix errors
- Writing programs and designing and coding software for production equipment and machines
- Making recommendations for future developments when necessary
- Integration of software with hardware componentsSupport for commissioning and troubleshooting on site.
Profile Description
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electromechanics, Industrial Sciences, Computer Science, or a similar field.
- Demonstrable experience with programming in C#, C, C++.
- Experience with Omron or B&R automation systems.
- Knowledge of industrial networks, PLCs and motion control
- Strong analytical skills and a solution-oriented attitude.
- Good communication skills in English (Dutch is a plus).
