Terumo’s Pharmaceutical Solutions Division (PSD) operates as a CDMO at the Chempark in Leverkusen, supporting the end-to-end manufacturing of pharmaceutical and biological drug products in a highly regulated GMP environment.
Within this dynamic setting, we are looking for a Supervisor to join our Formulation & Visual Inspection team. The team prepares drug product formulations, performs visual inspection activities and helps ensure high-quality production that supports patient care.
This is an operational, shift-based leadership position. As Supervisor, you work in an early and late shift rotation together with your team and spend several hours of your working day on the shopfloor in the Grade C cleanroom. You combine this strong operational presence with technical responsibilities and disciplinary people management.

Job summary
As a Supervisor, you lead formulation and visual inspection activities within a GMP-regulated production environment, combining technical and operational responsibility with disciplinary people leadership. You manage, coach and develop your team while remaining closely involved in day-to-day production activities.
You participate in the early and late shift rotation and work alongside your team in the Grade C cleanroom for several hours each day. The role therefore requires a hands-on leadership style, flexibility, ownership and a strong team-oriented mindset.
You will play an important role in building and developing a growing team, ensuring quality and performance while contributing to the further development of the department.
Job responsibilities

Lead daily formulation and visual inspection operations in line with production requirements, quality standards and customer expectations

Work alongside your team in an early and late shift rotation, maintaining a strong daily presence on the shopfloor and in the Grade C cleanroom

Manage, coach and develop a growing team of operators and shift leaders, currently around 6-8 direct reports, with further team growth expected

Coordinate production activities, shift priorities and resource allocation to ensure efficient execution

Act as the key point of contact between production, technical teams and other cross-functional stakeholders

Support equipment start-up activities, technical transfers, validation projects and the introduction of new products

Monitor operational KPIs and implement actions to improve efficiency, team performance and operational excellence

Drive continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with GMP, safety, environmental and quality standards

Lead investigations related to deviations, quality issues and safety incidents while promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous learning
Profile description

A degree in a scientific discipline, chemical engineering or equivalent experience provides a strong foundation for success in this role

Experience within pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical manufacturing is important, ideally within a Fill & Finish or CDMO environment

Whether you already have leadership experience or are ready to take the next step, you know how to motivate, coach and develop others

Knowledge of Fill & Finish processes, including formulation, visual inspection and aseptic manufacturing, is considered a strong asset

You are comfortable working within GMP-regulated environments and understand the importance of documentation quality and compliance

You are flexible to work in an early and late shift rotation and enjoy combining people leadership with an active presence on the shopfloor and in the cleanroom

Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma is a plus
