Our department brings together diverse expertise across two core areas:
  • Infrastructure, Operations & Networking, ensuring a stable, connected, and high-performing technology environment.
  • Applications, Enterprise Architecture & Analytics, driving digital innovation, business process optimisation, and data-driven decision making.

Job Summary

 

As an OT System Engineer, you will join our IT/OT Operations team and play a key role in supporting the technology environments that enable automation and engineering activities across our manufacturing and warehouse operations. This position focuses on networking, Wintel platforms, virtualisation, and on-premise infrastructure within Operational Technology (OT) environments.

You will be responsible for deploying, maintaining, and securing IT/OT infrastructure, ensuring reliable and efficient operations across sites in Belgium (Haasrode and Genk) and Germany (Leverkusen). Working closely with colleagues across IT and operational teams, you will contribute to the stability, performance, and security of critical systems that support our production and warehouse environments.

This is a hands-on role for a professional who enjoys working in complex infrastructure environments and collaborating across multiple locations. Regular travel to Leverkusen is required as part of supporting and developing our cross-site IT/OT infrastructure landscape.

Job Responsibilities

 

IT/OT Infrastructure Operations

  • Manage and support on-premise OT infrastructure, including servers, virtualisation platforms and storage environments.
  • Help ensure the availability, security and compliance of OT systems that support manufacturing and operational activities.
  • Perform installation, configuration and lifecycle management of infrastructure components, ensuring stable and reliable operations.
  • Support patching, backup, monitoring and incident resolution activities to maintain a secure and resilient environment.

Networking

  • Manage, maintain and troubleshoot industrial network environments across operational technology landscapes.
  • Support network switching, firewall management and segmentation between IT and OT zones to ensure secure and reliable connectivity.
  • Enable and maintain secure communication between OT and IT environments.
  • Implement and support network security controls to protect critical systems and infrastructure.

Wintel & Core Services

  • Manage Windows Server environments and core infrastructure services.
  • Support and maintain Active Directory on-premises environments.
  • Contribute to Entra ID integration within a hybrid identity landscape.
  • Maintain essential services such as DNS, DHCP and NTP.
  • Ensure the stability and performance of domain-joined OT environments.

Project & Deployment Work

  • Contribute to the design, implementation and continuous improvement of OT infrastructure environments.
  • Deploy and support infrastructure for new production lines, warehouse systems and engineering platforms.
  • Work closely with technology vendors and system integrators to deliver validated and compliant solutions.
  • Support infrastructure-related projects from planning through implementation and operational handover.

Compliance & Security

  • Ensure infrastructure and operational processes align with GxP and regulated manufacturing requirements.
  • Follow internal IT governance standards, including change management, patching and documentation practices.
  • Support cybersecurity initiatives through network segmentation, monitoring and other security controls.
  • Contribute to documentation, validation activities and audit readiness across OT environments.

Collaboration

  • Act as a key link between IT infrastructure teams, automation and engineering teams, and external partners.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve technical issues and improve operational performance.
  • Support troubleshooting activities and root cause analysis within production environments.
  • Build effective working relationships across teams to ensure reliable and secure operation of critical systems.

Profile Description

 

Location & Eligibility

As our IT team is based in Belgium, we are looking to hire candidates who are already living in Belgium and are legally entitled to live and work in Belgium. Please note that visa or work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.

 

Profile

We are looking for an experienced OT System Engineer who combines strong infrastructure expertise with a hands-on and pragmatic approach. You enjoy working in complex operational environments and are motivated by supporting critical systems that enable manufacturing and automation activities.

 

You bring strong experience with:

  • Windows Server (Wintel environments)
  • Active Directory (on-premise)
  • DNS, DHCP and NTP services

 

You also have good knowledge of:

  • Networking, including switching, firewalls and network segmentation
  • Virtualisation platforms such as VMware or similar solutions

 

Ideally, you are familiar with:

  • Entra ID and hybrid identity environments
  • Backup, monitoring and patching solutions

 

Experience in Operational Technology environments is considered a strong asset, including:

  • SCADA, PLC and industrial automation environments
  • Manufacturing and/or pharmaceutical industries
  • GxP and validated systems
  • IT/OT separation principles and Purdue model concepts

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to travel regularly to Leverkusen, Germany
  • Fluency in English; Dutch and/or German are considered an advantage
