Department Info

The European Distribution Centre (EDC) of Terumo is responsible for the distribution and transportation of our high-quality medical devices throughout the EMEA region. As an integral part of our global supply chain, the EDC builds strong cross-functional partnerships between Terumo's production sites and customers, ensuring reliable and efficient delivery of products that support healthcare professionals and patients.

Job Summary

As an Outbound Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth administrative and operational coordination of outbound logistics activities. You will be responsible for the accurate and timely dispatch of customer orders, maintaining transport compliance, coordinating with carriers, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain.

 

This role entails a temporary contract until and including October 2026.

Job Responsibilities

Outbound Logistics Operations

  • Ensure timely order dispatch and carrier pick-up according to agreed service levels.
  • Optimize outbound transport utilization and contribute to freight cost efficiency.
  • Manage export documentation and ensure customs compliance.
  • Coordinate bookings and transport activities with carriers, planning teams, and customer service.
  • Welcome drivers and prepare all required transport documentation.

 

Logistics Expertise & Continuous Improvement

  • Act as a logistics advisor for customer service and operational teams.
  • Support transportation planning and order-related issue resolution.
  • Provide expertise on logistics processes and customer requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, quality audits, and service enhancement projects.
  • Prepare and coordinate special transport schedules during peak periods, holidays, and quarter-end closings.

 

Team Collaboration

  • Demonstrate flexibility in supporting wider logistics operations.
  • Provide backup support for colleagues when required.
  • Contribute positively to a collaborative and customer-focused team environment.

Profile Description

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of logistics and transport operations, including Service Level Agreements (SLAs), order management processes, and transportation flows.
  • Experience working with SAP and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluent in Dutch with a strong working knowledge of English. Additional languages are considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of quality and regulatory requirements, including customs regulations, Incoterms, ADR, CAPA processes, and transport compliance.
  • Comfortable working in a rotating day schedule.
  • Proactive, independent, and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments and external partners.
