Department Info
The Tax & treasury team within Terumo is responsible for, among other, all Terumo Europe tax matters within EMEA. We take care of transfer pricing matters for all EMEA entities, we are responsible for tax compliance (direct & indirect) and we advise management on tax implications for specific projects (M&A, geographic expansion, … )
Job Summary
The main responsibilities of the VAT & Tax Expert are the management of VAT, transfer pricing, corporate tax and the participation in finance related EMEA projects. The scope covers TE & its (consolidated) affiliates in the EMEA region. This role reports to the Tax Manager within the Tax & Treasury team.
Job Responsibilities
VAT Responsibilities:
In this role, you will control the VAT process. You determine the appropriate VAT treatment for various transactions. You’ll also ensure the accurate setup of VAT in ERP systems and oversee the tVAT compliance process across relevant countries. Additionally, you'll manage VAT audits with the support of tax advisors and proactively identify opportunities for VAT improvement and refunds.
Transfer Pricing:
As tax data expert, your expertise will be crucial in preparing and updating TP documentation through collaboration with external advisors. Ensuring the arm’s length character of intercompany transactions and calculating the TP adjustments in alignment with our TP policy will be a key focus. The timely filing of mandatory TP returns in the EMEA region will also be part of your responsibilities.
You will also contribute to TP audit under the guidance of our Tax Manager.
Corporate Tax:
Managing tax accounting matters will be a pivotal responsibility.. Enhancing tax processes to ensure EMEA entities' compliance is essential. You'll play a crucial role in preparing, reviewing, and filing tax calculations and returns in collaboration with your accounting colleagues and with tax advisers, while also providing support during corporate tax audits, working closely with our Tax Manager.
Tax and VAT Expertise:
You'll be the go-to person for addressing inquiries from stakeholders, providing insights to deepen their understanding of the impact of tax and VAT. Serving as a liaison and point of contact for external tax advisors and authorities will be a key aspect of your role. Building strong relationships and sharing your tax knowledge with stakeholders will contribute to well-informed decision-making. Analysing relevant data and generating insightful reports will also be part of your responsibilities.
Other:
Remaining updated on tax changes in concerned countries and effectively communicating updates is vital. You'll also be responsible for identifying, implementing, and managing tax technology tools and automation. Engaging in tax discussions with our global HQ and affiliates, as well as contributing to the implementation of group guidelines/policies and participating in company projects, will round out your dynamic role.
Profile Description
You are a graduate in accounting, applied economics, economics, law, or a related field; a master's degree is a plus.
You can look back on minimum of 5 years of experience in Tax and have build up a strong understanding of VAT and corporate tax processes within a multinational.
In addition, you are proficiency in process management and technology (ERP, Excel, etc.).
Furthermore, you are proactive, precise, and have excellent communication skills.
You are proficiency in English (written and spoken); other languages are advantageous.
